Honestly, is there something wrong with me?
I was just watching the 5 o'clock new right, and they were reporting on the Samoan tsunami.
Why is it that I can only gasp in shock and horror as I see crying people and dead bodies, then obsess about my own stupid life a few minutes later? What is wrong with me that I can't empathise for long with these people, but only go 'awwhh thats so sad :'( , and then go back to wondering 'hmmm what am i having for dinner'.
We've all heard those news alerts that tell us 3 people have died in a car accident. A man fell out of a plane the other day. We empathise for a moment, maybe two. We've all experienced this reaction. But we can't concentrate on these issues for long. Because, how do they relate to us? How does it affect US? For most of us, it all seems so far away. We go, 'Hey, its never gonna happen to us right?..'
But i wonder, what if it does? I cant imagine what it would be like to experience something like that on any real emotional level.
Like it or not, everyone is so self-centred, me included for sure.
On a lesser, much less deep and serious note:
Liking someone makes you feel so insecure. It makes you so self-conscious, so vulnerable, like you don't deserve that person at all. So please don't play with a girl's heart. its a delicate thing, and it is NOT a trophy or a collectable item, and it doesn't make you look popular and cool. So just, don't do it.
Secondly, the people you don't know can be the sweetest people of all. Its pretty funny how our misconceptions and beliefs form an image of someone that just isn't true. So if you dont know a person, don't just write them off as a stoner-dude, a nerd or a reject. So think before you start labelling pleaseee. I know i probably have to work on that..
