So, after weeks of numerous phone calls and just as many rejections, and probably around 20 phone conversations that all went like this:
me: hi, i'm just wondering whether your company offers work experience for year 10 students
them: no, i'm sorry we don't/no we've actually run out of places/no we only offer it to uni people
me: okay then thank you for your time bye
Seriously i've heard those words so many times that i just came to expect that answer from most people. So today was my lucky day and not only the first but the SECOND number i called both accepted me! And seriously i was so incredibly happy/relieved/excited at the prospect that i had finally found work experience that i would enjoy, and now i even had a choice as to which one i could go to.
And so i ran upstairs to tell my dad that someone had finally accepted me, he just takes the chance to ruin my state of euphoria in about 10 seconds. Fkn heartbroken i swear. And you know what his reasons were? Apparently, taking one single bus and one single train to the city for work experience for 5 days was too fkn far, and the fashion industry has is 'full of dodgy people' and its extremely dangerous. Wtf wtf wtffff. What the fck is gna happen to me at a fkn fashion design company. I hate overprotective asian parents. Farout. Now all that time i spent making a million phone calls was just a fkn waste of time. Thanks a fkn lot. Isn't it enough that you already shattered my dreams to be a designer like, 2 years ago and told me to set my eyes on a proper job? Now you won't even let me take a glimpse into the industry that i've always wanted to be a part of for 5 fucking days. I don't want to go to the fkn hospital with my dad, its my fucking life so why don't you just let me choose what i want to do with it and i bet i'll get along just fine.
I know parents are meant to be their to guide you through life, but they don't have to be fkn dictators right? Always telling me i shouldnt do this, i can't be that, wanting to be this won't get me anywhere in life. Do i want to spend the rest of my life doing a job that earns me nothing? Well you know what? As long as i'm happy, i don't really care. Wish i had parents who would just let me follow my dreams, instead of continuously holding me back.
On a happier note, girls only picnic 2mro :)
And btw, if anyone is interested in work experience at Tigerlily or Carla Zampatti, one is in Surry Hills, and the other is near Town Hall, ask me for the contact numbers.
Sorry for raging.
goodbye.
